The Xiaomi 17 series was globally showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2026 event, and according to reports, it launched in India on 11 March 2026. This time, Xiaomi has focused more on the flagship segment, where the Leica camera partnership, premium design, and powerful Snapdragon chipset are the major highlights. The Xiaomi 17 has been launched as a compact flagship smartphone that targets premium users and camera enthusiasts.
The Xiaomi 17 honestly feels like Xiaomi is continuing the compact flagship trend that they originally started. After that, we saw phones like the 13S series, X300 series, and many other compact flagships entering the market. If Xiaomi prices the Xiaomi 17 properly in India, I genuinely feel this could become one of the best compact flagship phones this year.

Battery and Charging

The Xiaomi 17 gets a major upgrade in the battery department this time. The phone comes with a 6,330mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is considered quite massive for the compact flagship segment. Surprisingly, this battery is even larger than some phones like the Vivo X300, and in daily usage, it can easily deliver a full day of backup.
Even after video streaming, photography, social media usage, and regular app usage, the battery performance feels very impressive.
Talking about charging, Xiaomi has provided 100W fast charging support, which charges the phone very quickly. It also supports PPS and UFCS charging protocols, making the charging experience more compatible and efficient overall.

Camera

The Xiaomi 17 comes with 50 MP triple camera setup here. The main camera is upgraded to a Light Hunter 950 camera sensor. Xiaomi is also using a glass particle inside the lens. Rest, the ultra-wide The Xiaomi 17 retains an ultra-wide and telephoto lens setup that is quite similar to last yearโs model. In real-life usage, the camera experience feels very impressive, especially because of the Leica tuning, which gives photos a unique moody and premium vibe. The black-and-white Leica filters also produce very stylish-looking results. The Xiaomi 17 retains an ultra-wide and telephoto lens setup that is quite similar to last yearโs model. During camera testing, I clicked quite a few photos with the Xiaomi 17, and honestly, the Leica tuning gave the images a very premium and moody vibe. The black-and-white Leica filters were especially impressive and produced some really stylish results.
I also recorded a 4K video of a Lamborghini from inside a taxi, and even though the road was quite bumpy, the final footage turned out surprisingly stable. Color consistency during camera switching also looked very natural, which made the overall video quality feel truly flagship-level.
Like they have upgraded the selfie camera to 50 megapixel but they have reduced the aperture size. So somehow when you take a selfie they look good but once you zoom in it appears over sharpened. Also at some instances the skin tone in photos was a bit off. It looked very flat. All in all I feel this Xiaomi and Leica partnership leads to a very good camera for smartphone camera enthusiasts.
